Tribes and copy trading

The two get put in the same sentence often enough that it is worth setting them apart properly. Both start from the same observation, that people trade better when they are not doing it alone. They answer it in opposite ways.
What copy trading is
A copy trading platform mirrors another trader into your account. You pick someone, you allocate an amount, and from then on their positions open and close in your account automatically, sized to what you put in. The appeal is obvious: you get the outcome of someone else's judgement without having to form your own.
The mechanics are the point. You are not deciding trade by trade. You have decided once, about a person, and the platform executes the rest.
What Tribes does instead
Nothing is mirrored and no position is ever opened on your behalf. A tribe is a group with a shared feed: you see what the group is watching, what has been called and what has been traded, and every trade you place is your own decision, sized by you, confirmed by you.
That is a worse product for someone who wants to stop deciding. It is a different product, not a cheaper version of the same one.
What the difference actually changes
Where your attention goes. Copy trading asks one question, which trader, and then asks nothing. Tribes asks a smaller question repeatedly: this call, now, at this size, yes or no.
What you learn. A mirrored position teaches you the result and not the reasoning. A call you read, argued with and then took or skipped leaves you with the reasoning either way.
What happens when it goes wrong. In a mirror, a bad run is something that happened to you. In a tribe it is a decision you made, next to the conversation you made it in. That is harder, and it is the honest version.
What the group can see. Copy trading makes the trader you follow visible by design; that is the mechanism. In Tribes sharing is off by default and set per position, so joining a group never publishes your portfolio to it.
Which one you want
If the goal is exposure without involvement, copy trading is the category built for it, and Tribes is not competing for that.
If the goal is to trade with people you know, see what they are doing and stay the one deciding, that is what Tribes is for.
Neither of these is advice. Tribes is a tool for seeing and discussing markets, not an adviser, and trading involves risk, including the loss of the amount invested.
