What is social trading?

Tribes

Social trading is trading where other people's activity is part of how you find and judge opportunities: seeing what others are trading, reading why, and discussing it before deciding. The term covers a wide range of products, from a feed of other people's positions to systems that mirror another trader's account automatically.

It is a broad label

Social trading is used for several different products. Some are a feed you read. Some are a leaderboard you follow. Some execute on your behalf. The word alone does not tell you which, and the difference is who ends up making the decision.

Where Tribes sits in it

Tribes is social in the sense that the group is the product, and deliberately not social in the sense of routing decisions. Nothing executes for you. It calls this multiplayer trading rather than social trading, mostly to avoid being read as the automatic kind.

What to check in any of them

Whether you keep custody of your funds, whether anything executes without your confirmation, whether losses stay in the track record you are being shown, and whether the performance figures are execution-derived or self-reported.

Be early to multiplayer trading.
